Experience/Honors

Mr. Fish has extensive experience with complex commercial litigation, focusing particularly on manufacturing supply chain disputes involving the Uniform Commercial Code, the Convention on the International Sale of Goods, and the implications of judgments and arbitration awards, both domestic and international.  Mr. Fish has handled numerous shareholder disputes representing both majority and minority owners in obtaining injunctive relief, significant settlements and verdicts for his clients. 

He counsels clients on a broad range of business matters and has handled numerous employment and non-compete cases where he has obtained injunctive relief enforcing restrictive covenants.  Mr. Fish has practiced in federal and state courts in Michigan, as well as various other jurisdictions across the country.

In 2011, Mr. Fish was rated a Super Lawyer.

Recently Mr. Fish:

  • Won a bench trial and obtained a no cause verdict on behalf of shareholder doctors in a multi-million dollar claim against them; prevailed on clients’ counterclaim and obtained an award for attorney fees and costs.
  • Obtained a dismissal on motion of a multi-million dollar claim filed by U.S. and Romanian entities against several of their shareholders.
  • Won a motion for immediate possession of tooling under the Michigan Special Tools Lien Act on behalf of a Michigan tool maker, resulting in an approximate $1M payment and subsequent prompt favorable settlement with Michigan and Portuguese automotive suppliers.
  • Obtained a dismissal on motion of a $10 million breach of contract claim against a vinyl supplier and negotiated a long-term supply contract to settle the client’s counterclaim.
  • Won an arbitration award of approximately $2 million as well as a $4 million judgment on related issues in court for a Michigan automotive supplier against a Russian entity. His client was also awarded attorney fees and costs in each matter.
  • Obtained a jury verdict of no cause of action while representing the seller of a mobile home park in a multi-million dollar claim involving an asset purchase agreement.
  • Represented a South Korean automotive supplier in a significant dispute involving surcharges in which a favorable outcome was negotiated.
  • Represented a Michigan automotive supplier against Spanish and French automakers in a pricing dispute, which resulted in a multi-million dollar settlement for the client.

Background/Education

Mr. Fish was born in Detroit, Michigan. He received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame in 1991 and his J.D. from Notre Dame Law School, where he was the Notes Editor for the Journal of College and University Law, in 1994.
